Clydebuilt
Evenin all, Quick question please, I am running out of Vp90 Gun grease and was wondering what you guys with multi choke guns use for thread lube? I have been looking at the Hoppes gun grease and have a few tubes of Molykote 111 lying about but whats the general consensus? what you guys use..? Cheers Clydebuilt

Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
I find the best thing is to clean the chokes ever time I have used the gun with good old gun oil. If you spin the chokes out it just stops the carbon build up I once made this mistake on my old mossberg bolt action with a twist mutlchoke . I never got that choke to move again young and stupid I put down to. All the best
Mick Shaw
Hi Cly I agree, If you clean it regular you can use almost any lube. 3 in 1 is ok. I take my chokes out every 100 shots or so, never had a problem.at the moment I am using up some Kluber assembly paste, very good.
Chris Bb
Birchwood Casey choke lube. Off the Bay at about £6 per tube. It contains aluminium & graphite, wonder if Copaslip ® would work just as well? It claims to be high temperature and pressure resistant. MC
I use Pronataur cycle grease with added PTFE. I have never had a choke stuck.

steve_b_wales
For the threads on the barrels and chokes, I have always used Copper Grease, (not sure of the exact name) available from Halford's. This is brilliant stuff and I have used this since the 1980's with no probelms. Edited January 2, 2010 by steve_b_wales

CrowKLR
Why not stop at an auto parts shop, and get a small tube of "Anti-Seze". It is cheap, high temp, and will NEVER sieze. Just clean choke threads and barrel threads with some alcolol and old tooth brush, blow dry, and apply sparingly.
