Year end prospects.

It looks as though the weather is going to get milder over the next few days.

That means more rain, no frosts and a hard time pigeon shooting...for me.

Is it any better in your area ?

According to comments on here, big bags are being shot.

But where ?

Why are the pigeons in these other areas attacking the rape non-stop and yet around North Kent, there is no sign of them on the fields in any numbers.

Perhaps we have more woods and berries.  ;)

Out on Sunday in the East Midlands. Rain at first, then a greyish sort of mild day with a fair breeze. Plenty of pigeons around over the rape but not flighting onto where I`d set up Grrrr!

Went shooting a few clays yesterday in a small field with 3 other lads.At the end of the field was a small narrow wood and when it started to get dark we packed away the traps etc and had a final half hour in the wood.We split up in the wood and all 3 of us had a couple of shots before it was too dark to carry on. I got a grey squirell and a woodie and the others got a magpie and woody. Both of the pigeons were absolutely crammed with ivy berries and not a rape leaf between them.I think the abundance of acorns and now ivy berries plus the saturated ground is keeping them off the rape in most areas. Also I have read many times that pigeons don,t particularly like rape and feed on it as a last resort. ;)
