Al69ec
Any info on these guns and are they any good? I have an o/u 12b 1/4 and 1/2 chokes. Action looks like a winny but can't find out much about them on net, it was made in 1981 by date stamp and it has 18.3 stamped on both barrels and it has KG1. 530 on it aswell
tweedledee
Made in same factory as winchester.should be a good gun if looked after.
Gordon R
If it has the hinge pin under the barrels - full width pin - it is a Winchester, equivalent to the Winchester 101 Grand European. Top guns. Parker Hale had them made with their own name on them 801, 802, 803 and 804 - from memory. Game, Sporter, Skeet and Trap models. Al69ec
There's a pin that runs down the centre of the action if that's what you mean gord?
Gordon R
It is what the barrels pivot on. Winchesters and Miroku / Browning have a pin that goes from one side of the action to the other. Berettas, Lanbers etc hinge on two stub pins - one either side of the action. If yours has one hinge pin, it is a Winchester. If it has two, it is a Franchi. hedd-wyn
Gordon R's your man He's the Parker Hale Messiah Told me everything I needed to know before I bought mine.
Gordon R
The top Parker Hale is a Franchi. If you look at the forend metalwork - you can see a large radius. The lower is the Winchester made Parker Hale - smaller radius forend metalwork.
hedd-wyn
The one i bought is like this one, different engraving. Couldn't find a model number on it, but I kind of gathered it was an 803?
Al69ec
The action is like the top 1 but the forfend isn't rounded on the end, it's got a slight downward curve. I've also found 4 stars and a triangle on the bottom barrel and 2 stars and a triangle on top. Which chokes are these?
tweedledee
Looks like a winchester to me not the franchi
Al69ec
Which ones the best of the 2? The Winchester or the franchi? I've looked on the Internet and found a picture of a sauer franchi that's identical to mine.

nabbers
Small world! looks a lot like my Nikko 5200, Someone said Nikko made guns badged as Winchester and Parker Hale to Winchester 101 spec? They said the best wood was saved for their own Nikko brand.
Al69ec
Right. I think I can rule out the Winchester as all the actions I've seen bear no resemblance to mine. The picture at the start of this topics is the same as mine but it says Parker hale in the bottom corner and made in Italy on the barrels. I thought Parker hale were british? tweedledee
Must be a franchi.all winchester and nikko were made in kodensha Japan
Gordon R
There was another range made in Italy for Parker Hale - the 601 series. They looked similar to the Franchi, but had a bolt which protruded out of the action when open - similar to the Beretta DT10. Al69ec
There's a spring loaded pin that runs down the centre of the action under the barrel hinge. Is that what you mean?i think it locks into the barrels when there put into the action
Al69ec
Mine has similar scroll work to the franchi alcione and the forend has a slight down curve on the end.
Gordon R
Is the hinge a full width pin or one on either side?
Al69ec
There's a small pin either side of the action about 1/2 centimetre long with a long rod running down the centre of the action, it comes from under the furring pins all the way to the front

Gordon R
That is a Parker Hale - 100% made by Franchi. Chokes should give you some idea of which one. The trap model(703?)was 3/4 and full. Skeet model(704?)- sk and sk. Sporter (702?)was 1/4 and 3/4. Can't remember what the game model(701)was choked.
