Minute Of Arc/Angle

 

It's one sixtieth of a degree, which works out at 1.047 inches per 100 yards - usually just taken as 1 inch.

 

If you shoot to an accuracy of 1 MOA then at 100 yards your shots will be within an inch, 50 yards 1/2 inch, 600 yards 6 inches and so on.

 

I hope this explains it well enough, if you are really bored, need to understand it in detail or are just sad then here is a Wikipedia page on it.

If you want to learn how to correctly use mildots there is a good flash based simulation available here

 

It has classroom lessons on wind estimation, MOA explanations, range tables etc .... There is a few demos available on the site but you have to pay $49 for the full version - Unless you know where to look.
