Fascinating birds and getting rare, why would you want to get rid of them - unless you're a reed warbler? They'll be flying back to Africa before too long so put up with them a bit longer.

Just pondering out loud! What with them raiding other nests etc, thought they might be shootable, but if not then I most definitely wont!

They have declined quite badly. 63% according to a 2009 article.

I have heard one around our wood. Never seen loads of them myself but my dad remembers seeing loads up the woods when he was a kid.

Why do some people look for a reason to shoot anything that flies. What next shooting woodpeckers for damaging trees or shooting king fishers to protect fish stocks.

1 magpie raids ******* 100's! shoot those ******* if you want to shoot nest raiders!

Knowledge is a wonderful thing , at least Welsh Lamb had the sense to ask the question and check the licence ,she now knows they cant be shot and has stated that she is not going to do so.
All she was looking for was a answer to a honest question not a sermon.

Actually the op should not be shooting anything on the General licence as one of the conditions of use is that you have READ and understood the licence or the parts you are using. :hmm:
