having previously introduced a number of people to the farmer i shoot for ( over 20 yrs ) and reccomended some so called friends ( some from here ) have been left in the lurch more than once.

after all i do for the lads of pw and try and help them with my utmost seem to be kicked in the teeth time and time again.

the most recent being a so called friend (pw member) having he,s cert taken from him and asking would i purchase his guns...( 3 of ) (i agreed ) and transfered by the police only a week later getting a call from them stating that the owner (previous) has reported the gun bear in mind (GUN) stolen.

he advised that i only purchased 2 guns from him and the individual gun in question was not sold to me.

however all that sorted in all honesty who can you trust whom you think you are helping ?????? i think its time for me to go back to old school and do what i do best,,,, be an individual shooter on the land i have permission and let the farmers know its me and only me.

Sorry to hear about your experience, as a person who has no shooting of my own I am always grateful for any outings I get and would never be so disrespectful. Always try and give something back, either a drink or if I've enough cash a trip out fishing.

thats few and far between my friend i,m not a one for taking anything BUT a thank you and respect as most guys on here have is all that is needed.

the guys you help dont understand that you know when they are using pm and all else but dont get a reply when simply asking.

That's disappointing to read...and with me being in the same boat, not much permission. I hope the people I have shot with have found me to be a decent guy and I have always shown gratitude for their hospitality. Given this is as standard from me I have been invited back to most places.

Please don't knock the invites on the head - we need kind gents like you to keep the fresh shooters interested and hooked!

All the best,

Chris

Yeah well said Chris i too have no permission of my own so any invites i have received from other members have always been great fully received and i have always been full of respect for both them and their permission. there is always some muppet that ruins it for the majority!! how in all thing holy can some one sell you a gun and sign the forms and then report it stolen!!

That is sad to read. Up until very recently I had no permission myself and a couple kind gents off here took me out a few times. It was a guy off a forum that pointed me towards the farmer where I now have some permission actually. And for that I am more than grateful.

It is a shame that certain people of society have to spoil things for others. I suppose for every good guy in the world there has the be a waster to balance things out.

Enjoy your permissions Rob. All the best.

Dont loose faith! I understand how you feel I have helped many people over the years being an electrician been called out late at night etc by people who I know not even charged them and when the time comes where I need help can't get hold of anyone! You do get fed up I understand your situation there does seem to be less and less old school genuine people about nobody seems to stick to there word anymore it's a shame. However I invited Chris (BRYNDL) out with me Sunday as normally shoot on my own and found I had a much better day than I would on my own a really nice genuine lad and although only met him once would class him as a friend it's always good to extend the shooting family and it gives more people opportunities. Think you have just been unlucky with the characters you have met as am sure there are loads of decent guys on here don't give up just yet pal!

cheers mate

it is dissapointing that no matter how far you go to help some folk its those that throw it back in your face.

there are a lot of brilliant lads on here who i have taken out and will be taking out again very shortly.

we cant tar them all with the same brush,But those names will stick.

This reminds me of an incident a few years back.

There was a lot of pigeons hitting a rather large field of spring rape, the farmer had phoned me up and naturally I responded, and had a couple of excellent big number days, but work then got in the way, and the farmer said, did I know anybody that could come and have a go because I became unavailable for a few days. I had a think and said "yes I know someone" so I asked this person , that I thought was a friend, and he went and had a great day shooting pigeon.

The next time I saw the farmer, he asked me "Was that chap a friend of yours ?" Of course I replied "Yes he is."

To which he then replied " Well he's not as much of a friend as you think he is." He said to the farmer, " Don't bother ringing Steve in future, just ring me direct." At this point the farmer decided that he wasn't to be trusted and told him that he wouldn't be ringing him.

Needless to say ,that man has never been there again.

I don't think he realised that the farmer and the Landowner are my friends, not just someone that I shoot for.

But I was sadly shocked when the farmer told me what the other so called friend of mine had said.

I used to fish a fantastic lake on a farm, the farmer didnt advertise and the only way anyone knew about it was word of mouth but it was always quiet and good sport, I introduced a mate and he took it on himself to persuade the farmer to have matches on the lake every weekend, now the place is trashed, all the fish are manky, rubbish everywhere, there's always going to be someone to kick you in the teeth but please dont lose faith, the majority of people are decent human beings and were it not for kind people like you there would be a lot less new blood in shooting.

Chin up Sir, we appreciate your efforts

It is a great shame that this kind of back stabbing goes on.

I am very lucky in the fact that all of my permissions are owned by good friends of mine and they wouldn't give anyone else permission on the land without asking me first.

I have taken a couple of people from this site shooting and luckily had nothing but a great days sport with them.

I hope that you don't loose faith completely as the shooting world needs people like you who are lucky enough to get some land to shoot and have the heart to help others out.

All the best

Phil

Sorry to hear of your problems with people you trust taking the proverbial.

I have scaled down the amount of people I take out due to the regular problems others have had.

So far I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new shooters and taking both novice and experienced shooters out on my permissions.

Good luck

It always takes two to tango, and by that I mean you always hope that new 'friends' have the same respect and ethics as yourself.

However, only time tells, and 'new friends' have to prove themselves.

I run a small shoot (7 members), and as such they are all expected to muck in and do their fair share of the workload when the farmer is complaining about pigeons on the crops.

It's surprising how many promises and pledges come to nothing when the weather is bad or there is work to be done.

I have had to let lads go in the past due to the above, and we all try to help each other out when the custard hits the fan and personal circumstances get fraught.

All I can say is don't get bitter and twisted, as the true friends I have made repay me time and time again.

it wasnt him who put them on my cert, he notified the police i purchased them and they then released the guns to me, i then had a call from an feo saying he had called and said that i had actualy sold a gun that was not mine,,however that did not go very far as a simple explanation that i purchased the guns and they were therefore released to me made things simple,,,

its just the thought of someone ive helped through thick and thin could ever contemplate on trying to pull such a stunt.

lifes a bxxxxx rob when that happens an it shakes your faith in people, ive recently met some one who,s ripped a load of us off,an wont return the cash he was paid for the shooting that he never had,i will make him public on here in due course,at the same time met another guy who has invited 2 of us to shoot with him on 3 occasions with another planned soon an even though he has loads of permission i wouldn,t ever think of trying to encroach on his patch, respect for the good guy, shame on the bad ones.

Same sort of thing happened to me... Took a guy foxing on one of my areas next day he's knocking on the farmers door saying was it ok to go foxing when he wanted as I said it's ok..and the guy is still posting regular on this forum, offering advice and stuff, he's a total snake in the grass!!!! Just pick and choose very carefully!!!!

It happens, tell them to go their own way and why. I have taken loads out fishing and shooting and rarely do you get paid back when they have something good themselves. I try and not let it put me off doing it again but over the years some have really annoyed me when they "forget to return the favour" don't let them drag you down at least you now know they are just fair weather mates

Well so far I have only been let down by a couple of chaps that I've taken out.

Donations have been made to a charity of my choice (Help 4 Heroes) and I have been given Stella, good wine and frozen cod.

Above all we've had a laugh and I have developed some good friendships.

One last point, I have the keys to the locked gates on all of my permissions!!!!

Bang out of order...as much as I envy those with good land that have invited me out (in particular ceaser) sneaking in on their permission is absolutely 100% without a doubt wrong.

That is like calling out the AA to help you with a breakdown then kicking them in the balls after it has been repaired.

It is a little think called etiquette. Do as you would like to have done to yourself.

Im really sorry for you, you have been very generous and got a wet back for it. :sad1:
