red led torch

This recently arrived no customs to pay and i brought as an auction not buy it now... red cree torch so no red filters required

comes with everything you need to get it to mount on your gun ( I use deben quick mounts as i have several different torches)

all you do need is some self adhesive velcro to attach the touch pad to the gun stock and of course some batteries and a charger (18650 lithium ion) readily available on the bay

This has a mirrored smooth deep reflector no orange peel so it sends a nice tight beam out to about 200 yards with not to much splash to the sides... Im using on rimfire and air rifle and its more than capable of reaching the limits of those.

I like to alternate lamp colours as i find it does not spook rabbits or foxes so much as constantly using one colour.

using 18650 rechargeable i get 2-3 hours usage more if i didn't use it to scan constantly whilst on foot.

In my opinion a great torch for the money even better if you already own batteries and charger

arrival time was 21 days well packed

Whilst that is very likely a nice torch with plenty of reach, and at a decent price too, any torch with a reflector and flat front lens has a disadvantage to the hunter who has got his eyes adjusted to the darkness.

The spill reflects off close up foliage, dust and moisture in the air and causes his pupils to close up somewhat, sometimes you even feel it happen and squint.

A torch that has an aspheric lens and no reflector is kinder to the night adjusted hunters eyes and he gets to see further with opened pupils and more comfortable vision.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I fired mine up last night !

I am very happy with it easily getting 70-80 yards for clear shooting and eye shine to 100/120 yards (Fox at 100yards would be fine). I will take the range finder out one night and the lamp and give it a bash with some exact distances and if I can some photos also as soon as I get chance.

The mount is identical to one I already have and is a real good bit of kit worth £10 alone IMO.

I am happy with my purchase and it beats my previous setup IMO although is slightly bigger and heavier.

My previous setup was:

*This Ultrafire C8 T6 Torch ( http://www.bikelights.co.nz/ultrafire-c8-1000-lumen-t6-3-x-mode-xm-l-led-rechargeable-flashlight-torch-1 ) And a curly cable end cap with batterys and charger.

*With Tiablo Anti spill tube and Red + Yellow filter ( http://www.inovatech.co.uk/shop/Tiablo-A9-Anti-Spill-Tube.html , http://www.inovatech.co.uk/shop/Tiablo-A9-Red-Filter.html , http://www.inovatech.co.uk/shop/Tiablo-A9-Yellow-Filter.html )

As a yellow and white light its brillient with 1000+ lumens but the red filter brings it down to a 40/50 yard beam.

I have 3 light options when lamping now:

The light force 140 for scanning and lamping from the car.

The Ultra-fire + tiablo as a white or yellow beam for on foot.

The new light for the majority of my on foot stuff.

I do have other torches and lights but I will have a look through them now and see what I think about flogging some of it !

I may cease to use the ultra-fire for lamping etc and just use it as a white light torch for dog walking and spotting shot quarry.

Next job is to rig up an in car charger for the batterys so that I always have some ready for a lamping session. And an anti-spil tube for the new light.

Thanks for the heads up on this sirgoldalot
