Asking for permission?

please don't shoot me down in flames here, I have grown up on farms, my 2 best friends own 2 big farms and I shoot with another friend on his permission. but there is a farm near my house no one seems to shoot, yet is riddles with birds. And would be nice to shoot close to my house

So my questions is (although I have a good idea) how do you approach someone and ask permission? farmers from my opinion can be funny things, friendly, moody etc so how do you approach them? I feel knocking on there door is rude. So far iv been waiting to see him out and about to ask him lol any help would be appreciated. Or previous experience

Thanks reece

I personally have a few business cards made up, if I see a farmer out and about I will pass one over, I've knocked at a few farms with no answer so post one through the letter box and make a mental note to return.

Seeing the birds hitting the field is an ideal time to go find the farmer, introduce yourself, and let him know the birds are on such and such a field, and if he would like you to shoot a few. Having proof of SGC and insurance on you is a good idea.
