Hello all, this is possibly in the wrong section. If so I apologies.

Firstly where can I get the info on all the legalities? Like shot size or legal loads for this bird. I'll be the second gun and the first gun is sorting the paper work.

Also if anyone has any successful techniques they wouldn't mind sharing with me, I would very much appreciate that. Thanks for reading KR

i don't think it mentions steel or lead on the NE licence it will have a limit on numbers you can only shoot one a month & only when they have laned on the water not in flight & only if more then one bird on the water at a time, so one gets shot & the other gets the message not to come back. But this dont work as i have shot one bird of three which came in & the other two have flown round twice & landed again could have shot both if i had wanted to. :innocent:

Never shot them with non-toxic shot but they are a small bodied bird and we killed with 32-36gm 5&6`s lead no bother, unless they fly really high.

Spend time watching them and learn where they like to fly in from & under which direction of wind. Shoot as they surface if possible.

Depends on the terms they state, I used goose shells as I found duck shells ineffective ( I did get a comment from someone that this was good as those that flew off wouldn't go on our count, though this is just morally wrong IMO) 36grm of no.1 gamebore should do just fine if your gun is up to it. Note make sure you do your correct returns and make sure you fill your allocation or they will deny you another licence, this happened on other beats to us
