Half Shell Decoys

Hi,

I'm looking at adding a few extra decoys to my pattern,

Currently I only use 12 but think more cannot hurt.

How many decoys do you use in your pattern?

Is anyone aware of any issue with getting hold of them at the moment as A1 is not listing them at the moment?

Thank in advance for the advise

I used 6 full bodies, 8 shells and 5 dead this weekend, with 2 dead on a magnet and 3 on cradles at the back of the pattern. Shot 68. Not many more than yourself. It's not always about numbers. Just add to it with shot birds as you go.

My decoys are the hard plastic type, no flocking. The only thing I might do is swap the full bodied for more shells purely to save space. The magnet definitely proved to be the puller this weekend though, before it got put out the pigeons didn't seem to want to commit as readily.

Ordered some flocked shells from AA decoys on Friday lunchtime, as a few more don't come amiss, received them 9.20am this morning(Monday)! Nice one Andy.

How many decoys I set out depends on situation. If I've got 10 dead birds and can drive to the hide I'm as happy as a pig in ****! If no dead birds I usually put out a dozen shells.I always have a dead bird defrosted to go on the flapper, rarely use a whirly these days unless off the flight line or need to attract the birds attention from a distance.Just my view, more experienced guys will have other opinions. All the Best.
