drnobsac Posted April 17, 2014 Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 maybe worth popping in to a local garage and getting them to give it a emmissions test,that way you will know if its over fueling(cant see that as you have no black smoke),or other problem,might be fine,and just down to the make and model,at least it will put your mind at rest! I put 40 litres (not £40) in the truck just as the diesel light came on . I then dI'd 152 miles . Then the diesel light came back on . Worth getting a full diag done by a derv specialist (fuel pump/turbo) a mate had an auto navara that did 17mpg and another a chipped l200 that was no better rangers are thirsty and IMO 40mpg is overly optimistic. And I don't know if it's been. Chipped . I doubt it but then again I don't avlctually know . I checked all the wheels yesterday and there all free (brakes not binding) I have just brimmed the fuel tank yesterday . So I will post up how many miles I get of a tank . This is much more accurate than using the warning light, which will come on when the diesel sloshes about in the tank on bends or when stopping and accelerating. Andy +1 My light can come on going either uphill or downhill or cornering when its low, then when its been parked up the light stays off the above way is the ONLY way brim it.......run it for a set mileage, can be as little as you like as long as you know the mileage, but dont do it round town, go on a 50 mile average journey then brim it again, you will have the amount used and divide it into the mileage and bobs your auntie trip computers are the worst offenders........I went on a run in my diesel Altea (brimmed it), said I getting 45mpg.......refilled it 56 mpg....... I think theres plenty who drive big 4x4's who actually try to convince themselves they get decent MPG. I have a diesel LWB Grand Vitara that does 35 round the doors & 40 on a run, my only gripe being cost of road tax & theres not loads of boot space. Could you get away with something smaller? I wouldn't chance running a newer motor on veg oil, I'd have to be filtering & removing the water from it myself to guarantee it was safe to use. Back and for general shooting and greenlaning . And honestly I'm considering selling it to get something smaller . I'm 6"4 16 stone not the smallest . I really like the look of a jimny but I couldn't see my self buying one . Any ideas P.s it would be used as a daily driver for a 20 mile round trip to work .
