Looking for a Sunday Shoot

Hi All,

 

I'm new(isn) to clay pigeon shooting after catching the bug from visiting Birmingham and joining in with my other half's stepdad and his neighbour. It is their fault I have been through the SGC application, spent a load of money on a gun and am looking to join in with a load of strangers for a good couple of hours on a Sunday to try and control the local population of clay pigeons.

 

So, local, that's the point. I'm struggling to find anywhere to shoot that is close and not an extortionately priced venue.......I'm sure there are threads about this already somewhere.

 

I live in South Beds, have transport and am looking to join a shoot around here on a Sunday. Has anyone got any top tips, preferences or ideas as to where would be the best for me? I'm mostly looking for a bit of banter, a safe and fun place to shoot and someone who will push a button for me (I struggle with the time delay a bit at the bigger shooting grounds).

 

Anyway, thank you for reading my first post here, I'm sure it won't be my last, and if there is a specific thread I have managed to miss, please put a link on here and I will have a good look.

Where abouts in South Beds are you?

 

I am in Leighton Buzzard and shoot regularly (every fortnight) at Lodge Farm Clay Club near Hanslope (about 16 miles from home just off the A508)

 

Very friendly club with no airs & graces used by all types of shooters, very informal and fairly cheap to (£18 for 70 bird shoot - non-members)

Alternate Sundays from 09:30am - 13:00pm (last card at 10:30am)

 

Good banter and an excellent local pub for post-shoot chat.

I live in Dunstable, so that's definitely doable, thank you! I may well see you there. I'll pop you a message on here if I am going. Are there any more any closer, same kind of setup? I think I have seen one at Maulden, near Clophill. Hopefully that won't clash!!

I've never been here though, so I can't comment on what the place or people are like. The shoots are on the same days as LFCC.

This is the great thing about these forums because the two shoots you have hi lighted to me haven't come up on any of the websites I have looked through! Even a Google search for 'Clay Shoots Near Dunstable' didn't bring up Dunstable Gun Club!

 

Time to change to Yahoo I think....
