Therealchucknorris Posted April 12, 2014 Report Share Posted April 12, 2014 Can't think of any reason why I would need to carry a loaded mag in my car - it can't be any longer than 30 seconds to load one up when I arrive at my permissions if the situation demanded it. I'd struggle to give a decent justification if stopped with a loaded mag when on the way somewhere. No issues Aside from the fact there's no actual need to have them hanging off you whilst in the pub. No need to show off the fact you've just been shooting. If anyone knows of any prosecutions of a legitimate shooter carrying a loaded magazine whilst on their way to or from shooting then please post it here, otherwise I suggest perhaps we all just carry on doing what we do anyway. If I was stopped on my permission then yes, totally agree. If I'm at home or in the car on the way to or from then no need to have any ammo outside of its tin / box as I'm not shooting there and then. I haven't found a need to jump out of the car and start shooting just yet and it's no hardship to load and make ready when I arrive on the farm. Likewise when I finish it's easy enough to clear down and put it away. Regardless of the law, it's part of my routine and works well for me. My mags also sit in my rifles when they're in the cabinet and in transport so they're not forgotten when I pull them out at ridiculous o'clock in the morning. Rather keep them with the rifle and load on site than keep them loaded and risk forgetting them. Isn't this just another one of those "if I bang my head against the wall will it hurt" threads? Christ yes, just file it with the others: * Which is better .22 or .177? * Can I shoot fox with a .22lr * Is a Hatsan any good? * I have £2,000 to spend on a shotgun, what should I buy?
