flynny Posted April 13, 2014 Report Share Posted April 13, 2014 As a few of you are aware I purchased a browning A bolt in 243 a couple of months back,, anyway I took it up to one of my perms in Derbyshire this morning and decided to stretch its legs, I was shooting at a 8" high x 6" wide steel plate .I started out at 150 metres and worked up to 350 metres( confirmed with range finder) shooting 100 grain ppu factory ammo from prone on a bipod, 150 m point and shoot ,250 m point and shoot 350 m aimed about 1 mill dot high and hit after hit after hit but all low on the plate, I will leave the scope as it is for my stalking venture, but hells bells I'm well impressed with the accuracy, it's the first proper play I've had with it, 350 m is a bleddy long way when measured accurately, Don't get me wrong I ain't no sniper but 2"groups (ok ,all low on the plate) at 350m is more than adequate for fox and deer, ( ps I know the long range lads will laugh at 2" groups at this range, but with factory ammo and a budget rifle , you can't go wrong) Atb Flynny Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The trick is wind, this is the hard bit to judge and add in the time of flight (the quarry can and will often move before the bullet gets to the point it was aimed at) are why we limit our ranges when we are out shooting deer Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
