New to Pigeon Shooting

Hi,

I have only recently started shooting and got my license back in Feb, I go up to Ian Coleys ground most saturdays and have some traps of my own on the farm o practice with. I am still really enjoying my clay shooting but would also like to start shooting pigeons. So really I just wanted some tips as I literally have no idea where to start other than where to shoot.

Living in Somerset we don't really see many pigeons compared to other places that I've heard about and watched on youtube but we do have 60 acres of Maize ground that we are prepping at the minute.

Thanks

Maize can be a fruitfull crop for pigeons, it's best after harvest though.

So much information on this forum and I would suggest trawling through the shooting tips and read as much as you can, especially where it's relevant to Maize, hide building, decoy layout etc.

Good luck

Okay thanks for all the replies!

What sort of decoys are good value for money as just been burning through cartridges also my pockets on clay shooting.

I went out on the rape tother day and shot 4 pigeons going over head stood back in a bush but as the crop is out of flower there weren't many about. Apart form when i took my first shot and about 30 flew away onto another farm

Thanks

I use a mixture of full body's, dead birds, bouncers and a turbo flapper I find this works well to bring them in looking at getting a magnet but got mixed reviews on them. if u ever wanted a shooting buddy with all the kit drop me a P.M. I am only in Bristol and could meet up.
