I still keep an eye out for a bargain for a last minute booking, but like to know I have days lined up. Grouse is a bit of an exception. I have booked 10 days for grouse, but these are provisional as it is too early to say what sort of season the. Grouse will provide. So, booked your days yet? I only went grouse beating and she divorced me! ;-) The bank manager likes me - I fund his bank :-):-) I often wondered if it was possible to shoot every day of a season - from grouse on 12 Aug through to the end of pheasants on 1 Feb. I think it would get laborious and tiring! I shoot around 30 to 40 days a season, depending on work commitments etc. it is enough to be enjoyable still, but not too much to give you that 'Oh no, shooting again tomorrow' feeling. Near the top left of the screen you should see a tab with your name on this takes you to your profile where you can edit your details. OJW Posted April 17, 2014 Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 I shoot in a syndicate in Sussex, will have about 8 or 9 days with them, mainly on pheasant, the odd partridge will make an appearance and be such a shock everyone misses. Also shoot on a syndicated shoot in the West Midlands. I agree its nice to have everything in place, gives you something to look forward to. I feel the benefits of shooting in syndicates is that you know and have good banter with the other guns, and you can get your shooting arranged and paid for in one go very efficiently and know what dates you will be shooting way in advance. For the coming season, it would seem many have opted to book in advance as there seem to be far less days available on a popular shooting for sale website (don't know if I can say the name on here?) , perhaps this is just due to the fact people have got through the worst of the recession. This season we will visit: North Wales Scotland East Sussex West Sussex Hampshire Norfolk Suffolk Wiltshire Northamptonshire North Yorkshire Northumberland County Durham Dorst Devon Cornwall Surrey Kent Isle of Wight Shropshire Luckily, she likes visiting places as well as shopping! I know plenty of people who shoot far more days than myself in a season. And, what about the people who never shoot, but spend millions on cars, holidays etc. I work hard for my money and do not feel bad enjoying myself with it. Let's not make this a competion or I can afford more than you as I also see this as vulgar. I can see where your coming from, and i'm not defending the OP. But loads of people would describe themselves as the bank mangers best customer, or even the bookies best friend, simply because they see them coming and pull their pants down. My own game shooting is very modest, but if this chap wants to talk about his own, then surely this is the place to do it?! Its pigeon watch not Grouse watch... but as he said, its not indicative of personal wealth necessarily, if he has decided to shoot rather than buy expensive cars ect, then thats his prerogative. Your post was inflammatory and added nothing to the already dwindling conversation, not only here but within the forum, on shooting game birds. LOL I quiver and the wallet squeels at the thought of the cost of a single day walk one stand one. So far I have never been able to justifie paying for a days Pheasant shooting. In the last 5 years I have done 2/3 beaters days with the biggest bag of 18 between 6-8 guns. Some rough shooting walked up, I love the walk one, stand one and rough days most so my dogs get to work as well as i get to shoot, also the cheapest or free.
