Just had another decent day today on beans (drilled ten days ago) finished on 98 plus 2 crows. Have shot the last four Wednesdays (my day off) bags are 193/170/200/98 thats a total of 661. average 165. all shot with home loaded steel, 23.1/2 grains Vectan A1. plaswad. 27grams 5 shot. seeing huge numbers of pigeons at present, dont know where they are coming from. Roll on next Wednesday. I know there will be disbelievers out there but i can live with that. i have witnesses. I have to say its the best run i have had for some years.

It's the huge numbers of pigeons I find had to believe, although things are less bad down here now and I've seen the odd blue field!!!

Good shooting Rich just as a matter of interest why did you not use the fiibre cups we are discussing in my other thread, that amount of shooting put a lot of plastic wads out there.

At present the cost of the fibre wads is too high to shoot in high volumes at pigeons. if you are just loading for wildfowling or inland duck it not so critical, you just factor it into the cost of your sport. But the cost of the fibre wads will not reduce unless manufactured in millions.

+1

its all about economics. the fibre cups cost a fortune, may as well just shoot factory at those prices. BUT, there is one fsc and its gamebore.

i proofed a pigeon load but it ended up being expensive, but thats what it is. speed, cost money.

fibre wads, cost money.

everything costs money.

currently, now shot and powder are on a par with each other, both are expensive. sooner or later going to steel will change the game. the factory price will adjust.

but you will be groaning at the "increased cost of changing the tooling" to accomidate the cost of steel

china buying up all the "steel" so price of shot has gone up.

there is no steel available so shot is expensive

powder shortages of "progressive " or less digressive powders....

price of steel shot should plummet as more and more users of steel shells.

but one question was always bugged me. why did the price of steel shells go up, when the price of lead increased?.

when told that shells were going up due to the price of lead.?

A very fine run of good bags. I am not one of the 'disbelievers'.

You mean that we have people who do not believe the reports on the premier Pigeon Forum, does that include pictures??????

Richg , just keep shooting and enjoying it , are you shooting steel so you get a better return for your birds when sold??????

Do the increased costs give you a better return??????

how on earth do pictures prove anything? gosh this was laughable in the old shooting news in the 80's people were freezing down rabbits and hares so they could photo their lurcher with many 100's claimed to have been taken in just one session on the lamp. take people at their word if they have no reason to lie

I learnt from the Angling Press in the 70s that if you lie about weights/ numbers you are only fooling yourself at the end of the day you know the truth.
