Yep, it happened last night, after spotting a fox with the lamp a long way off then spending what seemed like hours following it and waiting for a safe shot (it kept moving just outside the light which had me shifting on the bipod) it eventually stopped to the shout of "oi", I settled the reticle just behind the shoulder, breathed out and squeezed. The sound of the hammer striking an empty chamber is possibly the worse thing in the world for a foxer!! not the first time I've done it and probably not the last, but this time it was made worse by the fact the better half was holding the lamp. The silence after was nearly as bad as the click. Rant at myself over :)

Doh !!! :sad1:

Couldn't you get one up quick once you realized it may have stopped for a second as most do just before they go through a hedge or something

tried that one, soon as the bolt was lifted it took off like its tail was on fire! I'm sure I heard it laughing as it disappeared over the hill.
