pigeon controller Posted April 21, 2014 Report Share Posted April 21, 2014 I've been the dutiful husband and just come back from taking the wife to the overcrowded Bank Holiday Market. During the drive I've seen pigeons on seed in small numbers but I amazed at the yellow fields of Rape . They seem to be all over the place even roads that we have driven looking for potential Zander fishing spots on the canal. Some are two fields over from the road and we did not see them when they were green. No wonder the birds have been difficult to find as they have been in the woods and on all these hidden fields. Driving around last week, between large fields with the truck window open, it almost took your breath away. I feel sorry for the hay fever sufferers this year. ditchman Posted April 21, 2014 Report Share Posted April 21, 2014 so if we havnt found the birds this year, they have been well dispersed during the rape season, now they are nesting...several times no doubt (lucky birds)....so we might expect a bumper year starting at harvest....maybe !!!! Certainly hope so motty, we don't have many beans here so rely on rape and barley stubbles to kill some birds and put a dent in the local population.
