A very small area can grow and landowners sometimes ask you.

i thought that I'd give this account to encourage others. I have rabbit permission on a small field, which led to some shooting also being given by an adjacent landowner on the next field where horses are grazed. It is still a very small area, but one that if you can take your time you can drag out a slow stalk round it to 30 mins.

I went up there the other night and had 4 nice rabbits with the air rifle (I also use a moderated Mossberg .410 sometimes). As I was packing them and the rifle away I noticed a 4x4 parking a hundred yards down the lane. Now when I've been out shooting in the past I always have tried to chat to other farmers and people who I meet; mainly to let them know that I am sorting out a rabbit problem for specific people and not poaching as a bit of that goes on around the area. I've never gained any other permission this way but kept trying. So I hung on for a bit to see what they were up to.

Anyway, the lady walked up and asked if I had been out shooting. It turns out that she owns 20 acres across the road on an area I had always noticed rabbits covering. A 5 acre hay field, and the remaining 15 of rough grazing with a rocky ridge which provides brilliant stalking cover. She asked me if I would start shooting there too as she is being plauged with rabbits. We ended up talking about rabbit recepies.and found out we knew a few people in common from my old village.

Just goes to show, sometimes opportunities can jump out when you least expect them.

Well done :good: The smallest permission I have is 12-15 acres. It has produced more shooting than all of my permissions put together in the last few weeks. 24 rabbits in 4 visits. Not huge in some peoples book, but its only big enough for an hour at a time. Sometimes the small parcels of land hold a better concentration
