It's called shooting the threads and it's legal. Plastic and lead won't do any damage to the threads but it will make a mess and take a lot of cleaning for absolutely no advantage over a cylinder choke. Normally people only do it if they don't have an open choke to hand.

Did this Sunday for 8 birds did I clean the threads no there was nothing in them and they never has been

Did he play golf

Perhaps you play more golf than shooting clays ? have you ever shot a professional shoot like the British open sporting ? Or indeed any 100 bird registered sporting if so you would know this is standard practice please let us know what your clay shooting experance is
