spandit Posted June 30, 2014 Report Share Posted June 30, 2014 Been stalking a brown rat in our garden for several days. With my air rifle swivelling on the window ledge of the spare bedroom, like a tail gunner, I've searched the borders, waiting. Yesterday, it was mostly hidden in vegetation but this evening it had an intimate encounter with a .22 RWS Superdome and made the decision to vacate this earthly plane. Immediately went out with the dogs to find the body but it was me who found it, curled up looking quite cosy in a plant. Eventually one of the dogs grabbed it and dropped it on the lawn where I could make sure it was really dead by jabbing it in eye with a stick. I'm sure as rats go this was a pretty clean one, living in the shrubbery, but still don't want to take the risk, especially as my young daughter plays out there a lot and the dogs are always sniffing about in the undergrowth Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That's why 'contact preps' used to be great before they watered them down (LIke the good old 'checkatube'. They do carry diseases and they are a pest but they aren't spawn of satan.
