Flapper battery charger

Recommended Posts

I have a maintenance charger from Halfords,do you think it's too strong

Model no.188946-bfj012-230

Input..230-240vac~50Hz 20w

Output=12dc 750mA

If not I'll just buy one from the link

If it's the same as mine, you should be ok. Mine is a Halford's fully automatic battery charger. The motorbike battery setting (sealed) works for all my batteries.

Yes it's to high, you need a charger that charges at a rate of 230 milliamps for a 2.3ah battery. you can get away with higher but you won't get best life out of batteries.

Your best bet is an intelligent battery charger but can be expensive. Lead/acid batteries should only be charged at a 1c rate I.e 7ah = .7 amps (700 milliamps) 10ah at 1.0 amp and so on.

Something like this http://www.parkersofbolton.co.uk/p-4186-ripmax-sigma-eq-mini-acdc-li-poli-fenimhnicad-battery-charger.aspx?CAWELAID=620001070000091175&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=1922669941&cadevice=t&gclid=Cj0KEQjwjZefBRDfsY28oNjbgeABEiQA8kVt3V4ia9A1g37T-Bp0bF8U5ALYpks-MjXoqujPOXmh4r0aAhz_8P8HAQ is far better if you use or are likely to use magnets or flapper and the like because you can adjust the charge rate to suit the different batteries you have or get in future rather than limiting yourself to one charger specific for one size battery.

Are the 1.2 batteries sold with a1 turbo flappers any good and if so what charger is best for them?

Hi I don't know what make/ type of batteries come with a1 flappers so cant advise but if they are lead acid and 1.2ah then you need a charger no higher than 1200 milliamps for optimum battery life.

i use a solar charge for my magnet and my motorbike

my motorbike will not start after two weeks of sitting, but with this it has started first time every time and the battery has lasted for 3 years now

so very happy with them but they where only £14 when i brought them
