KevDodd
I've got two new pups which are in a kennel that hasn't been used for a while. Before they came, the kennel was power washed and disinfected. The pups were treated the day before I got them. They were fine for the first couple of days, all they do now is scratch constantly. Is there any way I can ensure that the kennel has no undesirables in it, maybe fumigating? If so what do I use? Thanks Kev
FalconFN
Worth checking them for ear mites first, particularly if they are head shaking too.
KevDodd
Thanks FalconFN, they aren't head shaking, just scratching.
apache
They need checking by a vet, lice, fleas, mites all common and require different treatment. When you disinfected the kennel, did you rise it well? I've seen skin irritation from too enthusiastic use of disinfectants, especially the older products. Fal
When did they get wormed last? Scratching can be a sign of a heavy worm burden?
ferguson_tom
Did you change their food when they come to you? Might not be anything to do with the kennel.

I should go with that having seen it, is it not also likely they came with the eggs on them?
apache
I should go with that having seen it, is it not also likely they came with the eggs on them? Very likely. We see a lot of pups from good breeders with lice, fleas and ear mites. Very, very common. Of the itchy dogs I suspect well under 5% have anything to do with diet, whereas 95%+ are caused by parasites. Concentrate your effort where you are likely to get the best reward!
