Any auto air con engineers

The compressor was missing when I bought it so it's had to open ended hoses for god knows how long.

It's a isuzu trooper btw anyway I've got a replacement compressor but I don't want to start laying out money if the system is kaput coz of the open circuit issue.

Thanks

Going to have to replace the receiver/drier unit as well in that case mate, they absorb water from the air so really open hoses should have been sealed off to avoid this. Might be worth fitting the compressor and getting the system pressure tested for leaks.

As above, get it back together and get it tested with nitrogen (it's illegal to knowingly release refrigerant gas into the atmosphere).

Any repairer / fast fit should test before carrying out a re-gas so you could get away with an FOC check :)

MIne was gassed twice and "passed " the auto pressure test, the condenser was knackered! and had a big hole in it!

more likely it just had the vacuum test. total waste of time, when you go for your system to be checked over ask if they have, and use nitrogen to check for leaks, if they don`t have it, walk away, the a/c works under pressure not vacuum so for the life of me I can`t understand why anyone relies on the built in tests on the filling machines
