Me, me mate and me dog

Yesterday me and a friend had a drive around his perms, and found a cut rape field withe approx 150 birds on it.

We both thought we might as well have a go and walked the birds off.

Set up the hide, flapper, half a dozen real birds from the freezer and half doz shells .

I had brought my dog along for the very 1st time and didn't want to over expose him on his 1st outing

So I slipped his lead on and I sat out the 1st 20 odd minutes while my mate shot the pigeon to come in.

I sent him out for a retrieve,

And I think it confused him a bit ? picked up one of the decoy birds, started to bring it back then put it down to pick another .

Anyway he eventually picked the right bird and brought it back (good boy)

Not to over do it with him I put him back in his box in the van

(windows and side door open with fresh water)

Over the next 3 hrs we had 23 pigeon one of which fell behind us in a grass field.

After we packed up I got my boy out of the van took him into the field and sent him out into the direction of the bird.

With a couple of stop whistles to redirect him and bingo one pigeon delivered

Here he is posing with the bag (-:

Nice one. It's always a great feeling when your dog retrieves it's first bird. On his way to many more. Is your van blue by any chance?
