Hot Birds.

Recommended Posts

I have never had a problem as long as they get took in the same day , they easily go off if left over night .

I think the thing is to look after them before they go to the dealer , mine has told me countless times about people turning up with pigeons that have been left all day in polythene sacks and expecting them still to be suitable for consumption !.

I mostly freeze mine now anyway , but they still need to be laid out to cool a bit before going into the freezer , put them straight in and it can take 2+days for them to freeze if there are a number of them , its amazing the heat they hold.

Need to be careful to keep birds in good condition when temperature in high 20s. I've been putting mine into damp hessian sacks in the shade, then into a large cooler overnight before they go in the freezer in the morning. Lost a few last week when I left them in the garage overnight.....could tell they had spoiled by the smell....now a bag of maggots in the bin!
