I think we were all mostly expecting harvest to be early this year , I was still surprised to see one of my farmers combining his wheat today , I have never known it to be so early around here.

Even more surprising is the fact his harvest peas have been desiccated and look like they will be cut in the next week or so , its always been September before the peas were started before now.

They have started on the peas locally now. Myself and one of the lorries almost had a little accident this morning when they came round a blind corner too fast.

The first combine went down the marsh yesterday to start on the wheat, very early to be down there in July normally around 2nd week in August, with the machinery there got today the stubbles are not there long enough to get a decent bag of pigeons as wheat straw is chopped up behind the combine and the tractor will nigh on follow the combine starting sub soiling ect.

All our rape is in and a bumper year at that even with half of one field scrapped due to flea beetle - wheat is 70% in already. Just need to get the remainder in before the rain. Must admit I normally help out as it can be a long day for my father in-law but as there has been no rush they have not needed to do long crazy days so they have not needed me :-( I will just have to be content in shooting instead.....
