Been reading a few of the red letter day stories and brought to mind a day not too long ago. Arrived at the farm set up, had to put the hide three foot from the hedge because of a nettle filled ditch. Put out the deeks( the bouncer poles i use are two old fibreglass buggy whips cut down a bit) and leveled a small bit of ground for the bucket seat. Settled in and waited, in came the first bird and down it went so a good start. In came the second bird fast and to the hides right so i stood to take the shot. Now when i stood up the dog knocked the bucket over so when i sat down there was fresh air under me. Through the back of the hide and into the nettle filled ditch with the same grace as a head shot water buffalo. On my back and legs in the air covered in nettles the dog thinks i'm playing and jumps on my chest i shout at her and as many highly strung dogs do slashes on my chest. Out I crawl covered I nettle rash (even behind my ears) now looking like sloth from the goonies notice iv'e split the crotch of my trousers now being of the commando's ilk I'm alittle bit exposed if not a little bit cooler. Settle back down on the bucket and lick my wounds . About 20 mins later i find that while leveling off the ground i'd disturbed a red ants nest and they'd now found my newly ventilated baby maker. Thats it i'm off taking in the deeks i get a splinter off one of the buggy whips and snap one of my laces on the way back to the car. So remember for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction and the next day your on your 100th bird think about the poor muppet who's just rolled into a ditch.

that is hilarious its the kind of thing that I thought only happens to me, but with my shooting I would have missed the first bird as well
