Best Airgun for kids

Hi

 

I am looking for an airgun for my kids to get them started shooting rabbits. I have an old Webley Eclipse .22, (underlever) but it is too big / heavy for them. My son is 11 and my daughter is 9 and both are keen to get going but getting a little disheartened struggling with the Eclipse.

 

We have rabbiting permission 2 minutes from the house so keen to get them going with an airgun that would suit them.

 

Any advice would be great.

As you've already pointed out yourself, something light. Which means, really, a break barrel of some sort. Apart from that, it's really budget dependent. You can pick up an old BSA Meteor for £50, if you look around, and that would probably be a good starter.

You haven't said whether you mean a springer or a PCP, but if it's a PCP then I would have a look at the BSA Ultra - either new SE or second hand MMC types. They are small, light and full power, and perfect for beginners and experts alike.

 

For a springer, I'd look at a BSA Lightning.
