Push Netting take 4

After reading IanG's inspiring thread (cheers mate) on push netting I decided to give it a crack myself.

All in all I've tried it four times in the last two weeks.

First attempt I caught 34 shrimps in 2 1/2 hours (very exhausting)

Second attempt I caught **** all!

Third attempt on a different beach managed 24 shrimps in 2 hours

Fourth attempt caught about two pints of prawns in one hour!

It was through pure luck that I caught the prawns really.

I decided to go looking for some samphire after work at one of my special spots. I happened to have the push net in the back of the car so I set it up and started pushing through some seaweed near the shore, and hey presto!

Oh, and managed to get some samphire as well.

Looks very good. Do you cook the samphire?

I have a Welsh mate he loves laverbread which I think is made out of laver sea weed.

Yes, but just blanche it though as it helps soften the 'woody' parts of the plant.

I have to travel a bit further to get laver, very nice though (after hours of boiling) mixed with mashed potato then fried in a patty goes well with bacon and cockles for a traditional Welsh breakfast.

Very tasty , I picked a load of samphire last week, its well worth the effort.

The plants were still very small on this particular spot so I only took a little for myself.

There was still a lot of debris from the massive storms we had over winter I think that had something to do with it.
