staffyspen
Hi all, Anyone have above fac air rifle and use with good effect? Seen a mint 1 shooting 880 odd fps, scope for 195, I'm on the lookout for an fac air, don't want to spend a load as I also lamp with hushpower 20g! Thanks
kyska
I haven't had one, but have read they are a bit of a handful, and are difficult to shoot well. The eliminator seems the better gun.
Rimfireboy
As kyska says, I'd have a look for an eliminator. I've seen nice ones going for £250-350 with scope. Good build quality, nice wood and easy to reduce power if it's a bit harsh.
bullet boy
My FAC Rapid may be up for sale soon if your interested.
staffyspen
What sort of price we talking? What's it making ftlb'g?
kent
Without talking it down terribly "its the worst gun I have ever shot in my life" A swine to cock, horrible in recoil and darn near impossible to hit anything much smaller than a beach ball at 15 yards, the one I shot was subsequently changed to a gas ram (this made it the second worse gun I have ever shot) . Forget going higher than about 18 ft lb with such a gun its PCP land

Just thinking, pcp's are pricey for what I'll use it for, weight isn't really an issue as I'll be shooting from my car, shoot my hushpower on foot as I can hit them moving! Get a S/H .22lr like a CZ / BRNO or a decent Hw80 at 12 ft lb and save on the FAC. BTW many of us shoot running bunnies with our .22s. staffyspen
Ground dictates whether I can shoot lr or air, unfortunately for me, closed ticket and funny feo means air is all I can shoot on there!!
kent
In that case go 12 ft lb or pay out for the FAC etc and look for a more modestly powered HW80 little to gain much to loose in going higher power in a break action

I think you'll be struggling to cock and load a patriot or eliminator whilst in your car. Awkward with any break barrel air rifle.

terrier
I had a patriot .25 with a gasstrut couple years ago, and this was a real rabbit stopper! 28ftpd and swapped it for a boring HW90 .22, stil regret it. Very accurate if you take time to get used to it.
mark@mbb
I have had a webley axsor for a number of years now running at 30 ft lbs and its a great bunny stopper
BrowningDJC
I was looking at patriots but after looking at the eliminator i went for one of those, fair enough its not a great gun for in a vehicle but i dont want to be messing around with PCP's re charging them. Its accurate, powerful and does the job well. If you want a break barrel FAC air gun i dont think you would find better.
staffyspen
How fast can a variation come back, seen a .177 r10 for 250? Hw80 is an option but 375 New, plus scope and kit to up power will be used pcp land!!

Hw80 is an option but 375 New, plus scope and kit to up power will be used pcp land!! Don't buy an FAC air new, second hand HW80s are for the begging once they are FAC and looking for a new home. I know a guy who makes a few quid turning FAC into 12 ft lb (legally) then selling them on. If you can break an HW80 you must like running over them with tractors or something
