Anyone used one ? ... lve read about the "Walther Rotex R8 .22 calibre" ... it certainly appeals to me ... how do they weigh up to the likes of the equivalent Hatsan/Brocock/BSA offerings, 'keeping the cost as comparible as reasonably possible between then ... lm chomping at the bit to own a .22 PCP ... and a Daystate will be out my league, or l'd plump for one in a shot ... atb hoggy

Cheers Roger ... l'm dithering about making a decision "typically me !!" ... lve a short list "all .22 "

Hatsan AT44-10 "Wood Stock"

Brocock Concept "Wood stock"

Walther Rotex R8

I want "new" with warranty .. been advised by a mate, l'd be better off buying a S/H S410, but lm a bit concerned about there not being a warranty. Hence me dithering lol ... to be honest, lm not clued up enough really, regarding PCP's ... lm still trying to understand the terminology .. "buddy bottle etc" is an instance. Im also aware once bought, l will still need to lay out cash for the refilling. And lm still learning what that involves. If lve made it sound like a problem, then lve mislead. Im actually enjoying learning and enquiring !!

I can understand wanting the warranty but look at it another way.

If you're going to go PCP and have little experience it may be batter to buy something that is proven and easy to maintain. The RX8 is unknown, nobody has stripped one, it may be brilliant but after 12 months it could be a nightmare. If you really want a PCP now I would say a S400/410 is a safe purchase, plenty of spares and info, fairly basic and well within the capabilities of most owners to service.

Leave the RX8 for 12 months until other people have tried it and taken the hit on depreciation, £400 now is £250 in 12 months time.

Problem is, there arn't a great many "£400" air rifles that are 12 months or so old, that sell for the £250 mark ...

lve all but dismissed the Brocock. I'm considering the Walther or the Hatsan ...either makes in 22.

Will leave it a couple of weeks and deliberate more, l'm a compulsive deliberator. Im arrived at that conclusion having given it, some thought!

Well after posting l'd all but dismissed the Brocock, things might be a bit different!

Today l shouldered a BSA Raider and a Brocock. By far the Brocock felt nicer imho ... the BSA had a buddy bottle, Brocock hadn't. BSA was secondhand. Came with silencer & Scope. The cost was on parr with a new Walther & Brocock, though both unscoped.

The secondhand market pcp wise is bouyant to say the least ... think its going to be a new sub £400 pcp and sort the refilling out, possibly the secondhand route. Just got to look at the Walther and Hatsan. Wood stock Hatsan's are thin on the ground regards physically getting hands on and gaining the feeling of fit and balance etc ...

Anyone suggest were is the best places to go regards stockist for the ...

1. Walther Rotex R8 in .22

2. Hatsan AT44-10 "wood stock only..22

Tony's camo dont and wont be stocking the Walther and presenty doesn't have any pcp Hatsan on display. .. though they do have Brocock .. just want to spend a day driving round checking out which one lm going to choose ... Wirral air rifles apparently stock Walther, but for a reason best known to them, they are the most expensive ... any suggestion, much appreciated ... l dont mind travellng an hour or so.getting to a decent stockists, Blackpool air rifles is on the very limit, but not out the question ... Hi Hoggy Valley Arms at Ruthin are waiting for the walther to come in to stock and are hoping to have them in early next week i don't know the price but you can always ask them to price match.I am still waiting for my .177 to come in but once i have it you are welcome to try it.On the subject of second hand air rifles in all honesty i have had less problems with secondhand than i have new and if you keep looking thru the adds you do find the odd bargain last year i picked up a BSA R10 MK2 three months old £400 as i already had said rifle it was sold to a mate for the same price bargain!!!

Hi Hoggy, i now have my Rotex R8 pcp , initial thoughts are its an excellent

gun for £399-00 from my regular gun shop May of London, it handles well,

the Minelli stock looks good imo, the gun is well balanced and shoots consistantly accurately

i am well happy with the gun., and reccomend it whole heartly.

Picked mine up yesterday (.22) ... its my first pcp ... only put a few dozen pellets through it. Coming from a springer it takes a bit of time to familiarise with the dark side of pcp's ... it just seems a lot of gun for the money .. that said, the Gamo Coyote was impressive. I had to have a few moments thought about which one to choose. Both at £400 ... suppose its down to personal preferrence.

I would rather not post his comments but he was not well pleased, then on Sunday at the range someone else said pretty much the same?.
