right - i took my daughters 55 plate ford fiesta to the garage for a front wheel bearing the other day.

when i went to collect it the quoted price had doubled from £100 to £200 , apparantly they had broken the ABS ring , literally smashed it off to get access to the bearing ( i,m told anyway ).

so not very happy , i deceided to look on the net for this ABS ring , and i cant find it , only thing i can see is a ABS sensor wire thingy .

so does this ring actually exist or am i being ripped off

Do a search for reluctor rings, not more than £20 each.

sounds a bit strange matey when I had my garage if we had broke the abs ring and it was our fault we would have replaced it at our cost .

price seems a little high

have a look here

as ryanb said the bearing is the abs and fitting wrong way round is easy if you dont know what your doing you normally have a small clear bag of iron filings in kit to help decide which way round you fit the bearing idiot proof! check bill breakdown to see what labour charges have been made .be interesting to know

You MAY find that they have broken the FIRST ABS ring by not fitting the new bearing correctly! A lot of garages use brute force with make shift tools to fit bearings! My friends Pug 1007 HDI had the same bearings. The garage used a vice and crushed the ABS ring. You have to use a quality bearing tool on them. They need to be pulled in. Best thing would prob be to freeze the hub before fitting to contract the metal and aid fitting.
