Subs for a 10/22

Recommended Posts

Try CCI or Winchester subs. With any subs, you will need to make sure that you keep the action clean and free from any crud buildup.

Semis are not the ideal platform for subsonic rounds - they generally need a bit of oomph in order to cycle properly, but the two I've mentioned usually give reasonable results.

Mine loves cci's and Ely are good but it doesn't like Winchester's I would buy a box of each to try. I don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm having trouble getting hold of cci,s at the moment Rfd has them on backorder but doesn't know when The Be in been waiting a couple of weeks now anybody else having the same trouble.

The issue with some rounds is excess grease on the bullet and case. After 50 rounds this builds up in the chamber stopping the rifle cycling.

Winchester and if still available Magtech ( which in a bolt rifle is a hell of a round, massive open nose) are NOT suitable.

Eley and CCI SSHPs will work fine as will Lapua but they dont do a SSHP.

Buy a box of each that you can get and test them some won't cycle some won't group but normally one will be good.

With subs a clean action is important frog lube works very well so does clp. You can also polish the bearing face inside the action smooths it out a little the gun will do this on it's own in time.

A lot of RFDs are having trouble getting CCI at the moment, apparently the importers dont want to sell to small dealers anymore (although I was in a large shop a while ago and they couldnt get them either).

Picked up the rifle on Tuesday and so far I've tried a box of Remington, Winchester and Aguila 38gr. Remington seems to feed the best, but doesn't group as well as the others........ Although at the minute, I'm still getting used to the heavier trigger on the rifle, but saying that I've managed a magpie and 3 rabbits with it today. :)
