I have seen mine shed hair when on quite a few completes and produce a lot more poop! At present I am on Skinners (resting mix) quite impressed. I used to be a big raw feeder but wont now after having had two bouts of bugs. The best of all foods is home cooked meat / fish / veg and rice IMO ( no bugs, cheap and you know exactly what is in it)

How was the condition of the dogs and their stools on the cooked diet?

perfect, I cook the rice in the water I boil the meat in and just add cheap frozen vag by the bag or just green peas. Cheap chickens or rabbit / spare game or cheap frozen white fish fillets is used mostly. If I use blast frozen sardines the coat really shines like a new penny

Any advice on wher to get some chickens going cheep?

Also what is it about the blast frozen bit of sardines that makes the coat shine? Or do the ordinary sardines from the sea but in the tins do just the same job for the coats? The ones with the sunflower oil and the tomato flavored ones seem to help the coats but if the shot blast ones do better then... ?

was that the cheap raw minced dog food you were feeding that caused the problem, or were you feeding human grade raw but cheap cuts and wings?

fed raw for years and never had a problem i researched it properly first online and got a book called the dogs dinner if your intrested in feeding raw research it dont listen to hear say on here there were storys online about dog choking on bones but i belive this happens because people have fed leg bones or cooked which should never be done i get a large box of chicken carcasses every week from the local butcher plus mince, spleen and tripe from durham animal feeds i feed no veg they dont need it and carnt digest it tripe is far better fed than veg i dont belive they can get infections from feeding raw look at what dogs pick up while out on walks and what some dogs will eat you very rarely see on get ill from it unless it something realy bad so may be rotten or bad food but not fresh
