A few on some stubble

Popped up to the farm for around 10am this morning. The only field of stubble left un molested by the mintill muncher was strangely quiet. I sat in the truck for 40 minutes watching for a sign of anything resembling a flightline, but almost nothing. Still, I had made the effort to go up there, so thought I would have a go. With no evidence of a good place to be, I set up on the edge of a wood, just under an Ash tree. The birds often use this tree, if there are any about, and the bonus is its under a crow flightpath.

It was a struggle to get the few birds to play ball. Some decoyed an absolute treat, others just weren't interested. I started with fb deeks and added the shot birds to the pattern. I kept changing things around

to see what would work. I pulled all the decoys in at one point, and just left the real birds out there......strangely, that was less effective so back to the mix of everything I had in the bag, FB's, Shells...

It was a slow but enjoyable day. Finished with 19 pigeons and 3 crows, all with the 20g and homeloaded carts :good:
