CZ455 Trigger kits

I bought a kit several months ago, but up until now it is still in the 'bits box'. Personally, I think the original trigger setting is fine, so I haven't brought the tools out yet, but I'd be interested to know if a lighter spring really makes a lot of difference? ???

Has anybody actually measured the trigger pull with a Lyman gauge or something similar?

People with the 455!

Did you fit just the spring or the roller / bush/ shim thingy as well? The instructions state that you will die if you do hence I haven't...

I went for the middle spring and it is better, however I do feel a bit ripped off considering that from the £15 bag of parts all I needed was a spring that probably cost less that 5p!

I have the rfm kit. its ok for the money but as you only us one spring its an expensive spring. The sleeves are for the 452. While it was apart I also polished the sear with 1200 grade board. Much smoother.

As Team Tracor says don't use the sleeves as there's very little sear contact to start with. Hope this helps you. David.

I have the YoDave kit in my 455, tried the shims but they made the rifle dangerous, not enough sear engagement, so took the shim out and just used one of the lighter springs. Its great now and passes the bump test everytime.

You can make your own mind up, but here are my experiences of CZ trigger kits:

I've fit both; the Rimfire Magic one to my own CZ452 Varmint and the YoDave to someone else's CZ452 Silhouette. They both improve the standard triggers massively, however if you are a perfectionist like I am, then the YoDave kit wins over the RFM one.

Tolerances in the manufacturing of the factory trigger mechanisms mean you don't always have exactly the same starting point in terms of creep and weight of pull. The YoDave kit includes more parts to choose from to get your trigger "just so". If like me you fit the lightest spring that comes with the kit and the bush that gives the least creep, then the YoDave is the wins that round too. When you have something else to compare it to, side by side on the kitchen table, the Rimfire Magic'd trigger, has a relatively large proportion of creep before the trigger sears. Don't get me wrong, the RFM kit still works wonders for the money, but with a view to getting a CZ455 soon, i've ordered a YoDave kit to fit to it before I even bother putting a round through it.

One thing to remember with both of the kits when you've found the combination of spring and bush you like, (obviously with it unloaded) cock the bolt and give the butt of the stock a sharp crack on the kitchen table. Repeat this process half a dozen times or more. If this triggers the sear at all, then fit a different bush, or do away with it altogether as a previous poster mentioned. Its all very well having minimun creep, but if you see some green eyes flash in the lamp and proceed to give your truck a new sunroof (or worse) in the scramble to get your rifle out of the window then you'll wish you left the trigger alone in the first place.

Hope this gives you something to think about. Its nice to be able to offer some input into a forum, as its usually me asking the questions!

Let us know how you get on. Cheers.
