Was showing my oppo the operation of the Magazine Cut-Off yesterday and on the first occasion a pin suddenly appeared below it - sticking out about 10mm - I suspect that I came close to loosing it as we were in a pigeon hide on stubble. I believe this was the lever hinge pin. Pushed it firmly back in and all was well for the rest of the day - trying it a few times while all was quiet. Because the only thing I had on me small enough to get in the rebate was a trimmed down match stick, I can't be 100% certain that it went fully home but I thought so. Just tried it again and it did move in a tad more and possibly into a detent.

Questions: Although I think not, I haven't really paid too much attention to this, but is there supposed to be any form of 'plug' in the rebated pin insertion orifice? Also, has anyone else come across this?

Am toying with the idea of putting in a small drop of thread lock or even super glue just to restrain it as a precaution and to prevent its loss.

PS Ah! Just noticed that the lever now operates more positively. Previously, it was 3 position - frorward (off), mid (mag' locked) and rear (some over-ride which did nothing). Now it's only a positive two position on/off. Wondering if it wasn't ever fully installed.

Edit: PS

Would have thought this would be a rolled spring pin and when fitted friction and compression would keep it there.

Can you find a exploded parts diagram on Brownings site or Brownells to show what should be there and how.

The big gun making brands are dropping the ball on QC of late.
