Paul T
I have a 12g AL391 and it's a fantastic gun Don't go longer than 28" - remember the autos action is a couple of inches longer so a 28" is like a 30" o/u. They are great as a hide gun as they never need to be broken to load - just keep stuffing carts up the mag as you shoot. As long as they are kept clean they will keep going. Strip it down and check the piston is clean and that it slides easily on the rod. Check the barrel for obvious signs of wear/abuse. Also, have a good look at the cartridge lifter and make sure it's straight and true and there's no funny bends or kinks. Apart from that, shooting it is the best way to test it. fenboy
Great guns . Pros light , fast handling , light recoil , a third shot , easy to load in a hide , reliable , holds money well. Con's more limited cartridge choice and higher cost for 20 gauge , it will not be welcome on a formal shoot day , and thats about it . CharlesP
I have a 20 bore Urika. I bought it second hand last November. After Christmas, after hundreds of 24g Comp-X cartridges successfully through it, it packed up, and only cycled around 50-60% of the time. Maybe it was the cartridges - Hull never gave a convincing reply - but after being told by the outfit that had sold me the thing that I hadn't cleaned it enough/too much oil/too little oil /have I tried 28g and 30g cartridges, and would you believe "you're holding it wrong" I eventually got it back from them and it has worked perfectly since. Perhaps they tried a box of hefty cartridges through it, I don't know. At the same time Armusa cartridges became available. 24 grams, cheap enough, and I have fired thousands without a single problem. I've fired Eley and Caledonian and Express, too, as well as others. The cost of cartridges is an issue, they are dearer than the 12g equivalent. But more than the cost is the choice. Have a look at: http://www.justcartridges.com/cartridgesearch/?g=20&b=&p=Product&x=12&y=12 Then compare with: http://www.justcartridges.com/cartridgesearch/?g=12&b=&p=Product&x=14&y=11 Plenty of choice, you may think. But if you just want a couple of boxes to go pigeon shooting try ringing your local gun shop and see what they have in stock. Around here it can be a bit disappointing. But the 20 bore is a nice calibre, and the 20 bore Urika (AL391) is a nice auto to handle.

sitsinhedges
I owned a 20 gauge Teknys and a 12gauge Urika Light. The Teknys is effectively the same as the Urika and at around 6lbs is a great gun for all roughshooting purposes and fine for clays too. 28grams of 6 shot will do all the decoying you would want. blasterjudd
I have a 20g urika AL391 great gun wouldn't part with it. Good fast light gun for the hide and very light to carry around. Check the forend screw keeps the forend on tight with no slack and check the sliding bolt has no slack. Not much to go wrong with this gun very well made guns. But check previous owner keeps it clean round gas port area under the forend good sign how well its been cleaned as failure to clean can result in jams / misfires? Whitebridges
I have an Al391 Urika 2 Gold in 20 bore. I've had it for three years and use it for pigeon shooting from a hide and roost shooting. It's a great gun to shoot, flawless in operation and it's worked with all the cartridges I've put down it. Minor niggle is it's a bit of a pain to clean thoroughly but most of this is me. Great gun, a keeper. BigEd85
I have a 12g AL391 Teknys and have owned it for 11 years from new. Still going strong and yet to find a gun that I shoot better! Make sure you get all the tools etc used to dismantle the gas parts (especially the spanners). Also check the thread in the end cap as I find mine very hard to clean and they can rust. That's my input ATB Ed
