Well I'm back to normality after getting the big one last week but I don't mind a bit. It's silly to let one big bag overshadow all the great smaller ones.

I had a good drive around Saturday morning but ended up on the field where I shot the 139 last week as it was the only place with any kind of flight line. I set up about 100 yards into the field by a pylon but despite there being birds on the ground by it the spot was just wrong so I moved to just a few yards away from where I had been before and despite it being relatively slow I made the best of the trickle that came by for a look, staying later than intended I managed to get 36 and a couple of ferals for my efforts. Used the Franchi Alcione 20gauge with some 27gram 6 homeloads. It's a great gun but bloody noisy compared to the Husher.

Today with a few hours to spare but with an appointment this evening I thought I would have another quick look. I had a place in mind close to a spinney that has gamebirds in and shooting towards a village so I took the Husher. I really didn't mind too much so I was sitting in the sun, on my new PW Bergara Stag swivel seat, drinking coffee and eating Morrisons cheese and onion rolls for a couple of hours along with the odd stick of licorice and taking advantage of another trickle of a flight line until it dried up and managed to get a nice easy 23pigeons, 1 crow and a feral before packing up. Not a huge bag either but a nice relaxed afternoon.
