The problem may be with buying it on ticket is it would need to be in proof, off ticket barrels can be nice to look at on the outside but be to thin or excessively pitted inside to be in proof

Would make a fantastic wall hanger, if it suits the obsolete rule why decommission

Because there's a possibility that it's not obsolete if cartridges can be made for it.

If I were buying it I'd either have it "on ticket" or deactivated. And if "on ticket" it can't be hung on a wall and admired.

I disagree, can you walk into any shooting shop and buy 14 bore off the shelf? No

At auction possibly some collectors cartridges yes but they are few and far between.

Any ammo could in theory be made for any obsolete caliber, but let's not stop there, if your engineering skills are good enough to make obsolete cases then you could probably make a workable gun anyway, he'll what's stopping even the most rudimentary scaffold tube being capped with some flat bar and a ring of weld, a small pin hole drilled in the top and stuff it full of black powder tissue and nails, them put a match to the hole!

Laws and rules need to be kept 'real' hence why a 14 bore will be off ticket, you cannot go into an rfd and buy ready made up ammo, I seriously doubt any of the manufacturers list it any more

And I found this >>>>>>>>

Part I: Old weapons which should benefit from exemption as antiques under section 58 (2) of the Firearms Act 1968

c) Breech-loading firearms using ignition systems other than rimfire and centerfire (These include pin-fire and needle-fire ignition systems, as well as the more obscure lip fire, cup-primed, teat fire and base fire systems);

e) Vintage (pre 1939) rifles, shotguns and punt guns chambered for the following cartridges expressed in imperial measurements: 32 bore 24 bore, 14 bore, 10 bore (5/8″ and 2 7/8″ only), 8 bore, 4 bore, 3 bore, 2 bore, 1 1/8 bore, 1 1/4 bore and 1 1/2 bore, and vintage punt guns and shotguns with bores of 10 or greater.

<<<<< I've left in the pin fire bit to because cartridges for them quite often come up in auction too!

There are Collectors and RFD's everywhere that possess obsloete caliber rounds , IF your gun is "on ticket" you are within the law to reload rounds or possess rounds and discharge it , if your Gun is "Off ticket" your NOT ! the Law is plain and simple

This is For Sale "Off Ticket"

I will still want to see the buyer face to face and some ID with proof of age please !
