Im asking this as i was recently told by a friend that there are certain sections of the foreshore on the mainland you could go and shoot for free.

But if its true how would i find out were to go and who owns what?

Im not expecting anyone to give away there locations just a genral idea on how can i find out and who to ask about this matter.

Thanks guys atb hatsanmad

Scottish foreshore is crown estate. The bylaw for 'right to recreation' means wildfowling can be carried out between mhwm and mlwm

In a lot of places this bylaw has been revoked/over ruled

With ever expanding nature reserves and MOD land the places worth visiting are no longer available to the general public for shooting

Harbours and port authorities also have the bylaw gone.

The few places that are still 'free' are often crowded with folk watching geese stream over 3 gunshots high, hearing the odd fool having ridiculous shots.

Like any estuary/marsh/coastline... There are some good places at the right time of year with the right weather but unless you live local recon is obviously a nightmare.

If anybody finds themselves up here and would like to experience a flight in a different place...give me a pm and I may be able to take you out for a go.

Honest true wildfowlers only though.

In my experience local knowledge or others experience have helped more than anything else. If you have an area in mind it might be worth just posting it up.

The basc do a permit book which think covers some of the shootable reserves and will advise you Yes or No if you ask them if you can shoot a specific area.

Not a lot in Aberdeenshire foreshore wise.

You have findhorn bay further up then the black isles...some of which is restricted by NNR LNR and clubs

Black isles huge expanse, very lucky to be in the right place without local knowledge.

Montrose abit lower down but need permits.

Plenty of guides inland around Aberdeenshire though
