thegingeritalian
I have an old Deben Tracer Max, the dimmable type with a sealed pin spot bulb. It stopped working recently so checked the bulb and that is fine when wired straight to a battery. I ended up bypassing the pcb board containing the dimmer module and from a battery it works fine. The problem i am having is that when i plug it into the cars 12v supply the fuse blows everytime. Before i start my tried and tested Heath Robinson method of fixing things and potentially cause damage i thought it best to seek the advice of others who may have a bit more idea than me when it comes to electrics. Any advice appreciated
victorismyhero
what is the bulb wattage? what size fuse. the problem could lie in the cable to the unit... when you bypassed the circuit did you cross any wires? do you have a multimeter? I'm a retired electronics engineer btw..... Edited September 12, 2014 by victorismyhero
