steel shot to be used in a SX2 Winchester

Any steel shot will damage any barrel if it comes into contact with it, regardless of whether that barrel has been proofed for steel shot or not. It is the wad/cup in the cartridge which protects the internal surfaces of the barrel, nothing more.

Popular advice in the UK is to go no tighter than 1/2 choke in ANY gun, regardless of proof, when using steel shot.
