magical sound

The magical sound of the pinks has returned to my area. I sit in the garden in the pitch dark as I write this listening to pinks circle above the village, I always forget how amazing the effect the music of the pinks has on me!

The time to blow the dust off the 10 bore and the waders is here....My wildfowling season will start soon!

Good luck to all those who shoot the foreshore this season!

Never had the chance to experience it, but very kindly have been invited on a trip to the Solway late October - so hopefully will get to see and hear them then.

I hope you do silver pigeon 3. To hear Pinks coming off roost at the morning flight is a real David Attenborough moment. If there are a big lot flying it is truly magnificent. I have seen 36,000 lifting over about 20 minutes some years ago and I was just dumbfounded at the spectacle. (Never got a shot though) ATB

Fingers crossed, getting a shot is a secondary thought. Just want to see and hear them at close quarters, Any geese calling close still brings on the excitement for me so really looking forward to it.

As I said in a previous post at least one or two of my best ever flights at pinks ended with out firing a shot , but to be under 1000s of Geese all calling out to there mates who have already started to settle in for the night is a sight and sound you can never have enough of , many a time I have came home with a empty bag and a clean gun but the entertainment I have had have been priceless.

Yes memories, been a good few year since I've been wildfowling, so I clicked on Utube just to remind me... :)

Working away on site this morning I thought I was hearing things but after a quick scan of the skys sure enough there was a nice skein of 200 or more pinks heading to feed

Working just a few miles from my favourite fowling estuary...hoping they are using it as their ew home as I will be there after work to see if anythings moving.

First flight of the season for me
