i have tried a search and found nothing, which i thought would of been done to death already.

my question is?

my interview,

what kind of questions do they ask when they come round, ill make sure the kettle is primed and the hobnobs are in date! but regarding the interview itself what should be expected. im sure im fine with the rules marked out by basc and my gun safety and handling is fine as iv not had any trouble while on a clay ground with friends, just wanted to get a heads up on whats expected

All I got really was. This is what you do when you buy and sell a shotgun, your cabinet is well secures to the wall, your dogs a good burglar alarm, certificate should be through in the next 3 weeks.

I was primed with all answers about shot carry distance, where I was going to use it ect ect but got told we are not interested in that really. FAC was a lot more in depth.

As said, the officer will generally ask what you want a shotgun for and will inspect your security arrangements.

They will no doubt be sussing you and your surroundings out too.

Just relax and be yourself, always tell the truth and if they ask who else will have cabinet keys the answer is "nobody".

Mine was very friendly, just asked me what I wanted it for, what my wife thinks about me having guns and then explained how to fill out the ticket when buying or selling and notifying them of transfers, there was a few other questions i can't really remember but nothing taxing, think it took about 45 mins to a hour, as others have said i think its just to get a measure of what type of person you are really more than anything else, she then had a look at my cabinet and wrote down how many it holds, mine was a 3 gun but she said it could hold 5 depending how careful i wanted to be with putting them in. Then i was told she would recommend i get the cert and it would probably take up to 2 weeks, then she said see you in 5 years and left,

I sent in a email to the dept thanking her for her help and how i was very impressed with the service and how it couldn't have gone better.

Play it by ear, to be honest when my dad was asked questions on his renewal like 'what do you use it for?' he told the feo it was none of his business which legally its not. But my dads had guns all his life and is in his late sixties, I wouldn't of said that!
