Correct on the first one. Stonechat and juveniles I believe on the others.

I'm not sure about the little ringed plover. Fisherman Mike may help, but I'm thinking the legs are a wee bit too bright for an LRP. Possibly a Juvie RP, which also sports the dark bill, just as the LRP, but the legs can be brighter.

Lovely little birds, I used to get the two confused, redstart & stonechat. Now think no white collar all red. Helps me remember

I don't think it is a Little Ringed Plover. A LRP has a yellow ring around its eye and unlike the ringed plover is more of freshwater bird.

More like the common ringed unless the juve littles lack the yellow eye ring.

These images are confusing, some have gold eyes and some have black bill's and grey legs!

Right. I have finally got round to consulting The Bible. I'm thinking it's a Common RP and a juvenile bird - but possibly an adult just putting his winter clothes on.

The supercilium (white above the eye) is much more prominent on the CRP, and the lack of the yellow eye ring helps further. The body is just a little bit more proportioned as well. LRP's give the impression of having slightly too long legs for the size of its body. The LRP's bill is also more slender and sharper at the end.

 

The legs have much more colour to them than LRP's do at any stage of their lives.

 

If you were to push me, I'd say it's a CRP juvenile, as the supercilium is narrower and whiter than it is on the more creamy adult winter bird. The time of year would make that about right too.

 

Be careful about comparing images to that which lurk on the internet! images aren't always labelled correctly and people don't always know what they're looking at!
