Made up!! Yesterday went to chaple house in Southport to look at the jimny and in there they had exactly what I wanted; a two tone grey and silver brand new sz4 spec it was great!

Parents were sceptical of the jimny at first but after the test drive and about an hour looking at them in depth they've fallen in love with them also :)

The test drive was great... Different to anything else I've driven tbh haha bit of roll vague steering and odd feeling gear box nothing like the fiesta I drive but I loved it :D the high driving position and everything else really definitely made my mind up :)

Thought I'd inform ypu guys who contributed on my last post 'jimny as first car'

get it waxoyled, particularly under the floor pan below the back seats, rust is the biggest problem with suzies, and if you get a steering wobble when braking its not wheel balance or brake disc problems, shove a shim (available from Suzuki)on a king pin to preload the bearing slightly

I used to have a jimny for a few years I put some decent welllies on her and it was amazing where it would go the only reason I sold it was I wanted that little bit more room and the vitra has that I have put some all terrains on this one and haven't got stuck yet but there's a first for every thing lol good luck with the jimny it will be plenty of fun in the mud

Cheers mate! Was thinking about decent AT tyres but does that fall under the "modification" section on insurance or not?:s

That's what I want it for to have fun in the mud etc better than taking a few corners fast in my opinion!

I'm not 100% sure when I will have my jimny definitely next few months I'd say but when it finally happens I'll get a picture up on here.

I saw one today all done up, I had a chat with the lad and he reckons he's spent a pile on it on mods and it will go anywhere. It was metalic green and inside he had 2x bucket racing seats with yellow racing harnesses. The car was raised and the shockers where bright red with yellows springs and the diff and everthing else was yellow. It even had ever bush replaced with bright orange ones, and a red winch, what a motor.

I joked on with him and said, does anyone take the mick, you know the old hairdresser jokes and that.Yes he said but when iam off roading and greenlaning they swallow their words and usually have to move out of the way . I've been looking at them most of today on youtube, brilliant little motors.

He also added that hes in a 4x4 club that volunteers in the winter to take elderly people for hospital appointment and does there shopping. So a cracking young lad with a cracking motor.

I bought a brand new one 1st Sept this is my fourth, they are like marmite you either love them or hate them - I love them great little shoot vehicle and goes anywhere!

I think it all depends what you want it for if its just going off road and for short trips they are great but if you want to do a lot of miles then I would go for something a bit larger and more refined.

New to the forum, so hello all.

About two months ago my wife decided my old 240 wasn't good enough so we went to get a jimmy. Blue, convertible, compleatly standard. I get in it to drive home thinking to my self "great a little box and don't I look silly!"(I'm a hilux man mainly). Ten minutes in I didn't care, such a happy plucky little car! Remarkable off road aswell. You will have fun there!!

Dave, I am really pleased for you and glad you have found the right car. Just a word of warning with regards to Crapplehouse though. Having had a Suzuki Vitara from them, I found their Service Department terrible to deal with. After one service, I did not think the air con was working as well as it had. I found that they had disconnected the electrics to it and taped the wires up. They had done this after my complaining that 'rust' coloured water was dripping on my driveway and i suspected it was from the air con system. After taking the vehicle to a non Suzuki agent, it was found that the drainage pipe from the air con had been 'removed'. This had caused the condensation from the air con to soak into the bulkhead soundproofing which had then started to rust everything fixed to the bulkhead, including the wiring system. Crapplehouse refused to admit liability and reams of letters to both them and Suzuki failed to get the vehicle put right. After 12 months of fighting them, I gave up and weighed the vehicle in for an X Trail. If you can find another Suzuki agent, then do so. Good Luck with your purchase. W.
