daystate 177 Posted October 18, 2014 Report Share Posted October 18, 2014 Just got in from work and next door stopped me he said he has seen massive rats under his shed the dogs had 2 but said the 3rd is to quick, what's the best way of getting this rat, he said he tried a trap but it took the bait but didn't trap him I was gonna bait it then give it a lead hat in form of a .22 from my hw any ideas Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If it's just the one rat, it will be coming out at some point to feed. find out when and where, then shoot it! Baiting might work, depending on its habitual food source. Some rats can be a bit neophobic - they ignore something new in preference for a well used, known to be safe source. I'd stay clear of poison There are clearly dogs around, you don't want to give a nasty dose of anti-coags to them. Personally, I'd go with see rat, shoot rat. simple, safer and more fun! four-wheel-drive Posted October 18, 2014 Report Share Posted October 18, 2014 The way that I see it there must be something for them to eat bird food etc simple no food no rats if you kill the ones that you have got more will only take there place so what is the point I have got some living at the bottom of my garden they do not bother me and I do not bother them since I stopped feeding the birds its not often I see one. Sorry chap but that is all but impossible, few sites will have enough bait on site in total to harm a dog, and the number of rats a dog would have to eat to suffer any symptoms through secondary poisoning beggars belief. Some figures for Difenacoum, a commonly used anti coagulant for rats.
